Where the Union Began

On 2 December 1971 the founding rulers gathered at Dar Al Ittihad, Union House in Dubai, and the Union of the Emirates was declared. The house still stands, at the heart of the Etihad Museum, and here it is engraved in fine relief with its coordinates, 25°14′29″N 55°16′11″E, and the date the story began.

The tonneau case is cut in broad, brushed planes that catch the light in long, clean bands, so the silver stays calm instead of glittering. The flanks swell and return towards the strap, the deep bezel gives the dial room to breathe, and the knurled crown anchors the right edge. The strap leaves the case in one unbroken line.
